are there any one in here that can help me with figuireing out why my brake dont have full stoping power is it the brake booster or pump

after researching i found all the bad about the bendix 9 system. i am going to change it out once i find some how to info was hoping to find someone to rebuild that booster pump till i get a game plan for the swap. it seems to be the problem.very loud.any info would be great. i am not a real mechanic but i could do this with some step by step directions. thanks tommy

 

I just had the same problem about a week ago. The ABS Motor (located under the coolant bottle) went bad and was stuck on when the key was stuck on causing there to be no pressure in the system. I just put a new motor in and it fixed the problem. A brand new ABS motor is like $400 to $500. I was lucky enough to find one at the junk yard for $13. I think you can get one off any cherokee 1989 to 1991 that has ABS. I also needed to buy a chunk of hose because the new pump was set up a little different. It is fairy simple to change it. you have to take the coolant bottle off, unhook the two brake lines going to it, unplug the pump, take the bracket that holds the coolant bottle off (the pump is bolted to it), un bolt the pump from bracket (3 bolts). then reverse the order and put it all back together.
I am not a mechanic but I was able to figure it out. There may be a better way to do it. Good luck!
