Been thinking about that also.
One of my worst fears is opening the hood and have the hood release lever in my hand behind my shoulder complete with 2 feet of broken hood release cable.

I did the 50/50 mix of acetone and atf in a plastic spray bottle and it works great. I mixed it about 4 months ago and there is still some in there so it hasn't evaporated.

As long as the container is sealed well, it shouldin't. The oil cans with the pumps on them however, don't seal well enough to keep the acetone from evaporating.

Since finding Kroil, I haven't been without it. I originally got introduced to it when researching how to get a notoriously difficult honda crank bolt removed. It appears to be not much more than a good kerosene/atf mixture, but it sure does work and a small can of it lasts me a long time. It's one of those products that is pretty well known among mechanics, but not very well known among DIYers (probably because it is a bit hard to find at big box auto stores).
