Blocks promote axle wrap

 

Have you ever seen this in person? I sure haven't. And I've been wheeling my whole life pretty much. From the sounds of it, the op doesn't really wheel anyway.

 

I got some daystars and the shackles are heavy duty. Im putting them on with front coils, new shocks, and 1 inch blocks (better for the springs the smaller the block) for a temporary 3 inch lift.

 

Do you even know what axle wrap is?

The bouncing motion that happens when giving gas while trying to go over an obstacle is one of the signs. It can be very violent. And It's very common with leaf spring suspensions while under load. And adding a block increases it.

It's not some myth, its the way power is transfered to the axle. And the way leafs absorb this power. You are raising the pivot point of the axle, without actually raising the point of torque. This makes axle wrap more pronounced.

Get out and actually watch the suspension on leaf sprung vehicles while wheeling, you'll see.

 

That's not what I meant. I know what it is, but have you ever seen any carnage from it? Any destruction? Any negative effects? We all hear so many "horrific" stories about blocks but how many people have actually seen these things?

i have seen blocks fail ,not because of the use but from bad installation and being used on worn out leaf package been running them for over 7 years now no probs ran them on all my 4x4s thru the years .people are so against blocks but they beat the crap out of there xjs trailing over big *** rocks go figure?

 

Well I'm gonna go with shackles for the rear just to be safe, and it supposedly allows for more articulation.

And since I'm using a 3 inch add a leaf kit I wanna ensure reliability with my older leads. Coils obviously for the front. I found all of it for around 70.

 

A picture....exactly. How do you determine that it was the exact cause and not some other variable? Pictures mean nothing to me. That's why I asked how many wheelers have actually seen it in PERSON.
