Bit the bullet...new XJ owner
Hey all - first, thanks for all your help with the many questions I had during my search - I can be a bit **** when it comes to researching my purchases and so many of you were a big help in making me feel comfortable with my purchase.
I bought this '99 Cherokee Sport 4WD with 130K and a 2"stack of maintenance records of everything that the owner did from day 1 - religously changed oil every 2-3K and Radiator Flush & Fills:
- 124,255 miles
- 92,019 miles
- 74,622 miles
- 60,814 miles
Transmission Flush & Fills:
- 103,002 miles
- 74,622 miles
It's got the 8.25 and a 231 (kinda wanted a 242 but I think the 231 will work just fine for my application).
I can't think of better peace of mind in purchasing a used vehicle then to have these shop records. This vehicle is very clean inside and out with only one spot of rust in the corner of the rear quarter panel. I am gonna have to replace the hitch because it is only rated for max 2000 lbs and I think that's about the weight I want to pull so I will upgrade to a class 3 - shop guy says just under $300 installed. I will be using this vehicle for my daily commute and trailering mine and my brothers motorcycles on the really long trips.
Happy camper!

Welcome, nice jeep. Do yourself a favor and buy a class 3 Reese hitch from an auto parts store or walmart. I think they are 120 dollars and you will be able to literally unbolt the one you have and bolt on the new one. That easy
