Hello all,

My name is Matt and I just bought a 99 Cherokee today and I'm new to the forum. I ride a bike for work and I'm planning a move west and need to take 4 bikes with me. I wanted to look into roof racks to carry two of them. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I "made" a bike rack for my roof. I used those bike mounts for a truck and use bungie cords for the back tire.

 

I've had a roof rack before and didn't like the extra wind resistance with two bikes up top I could definitely feel a difference with them up there and a drop in mpg. For a long distance drive I would recommend a hitch rack.

i have a few bikes too.
i have a thule roof rack, but don't like them up top either.
so i built a small 4ft by 4ft trailer with a slider extension for up to 7 feet long.
gonna just put my thule rack on that for two and a hitch rack for the other two.

 

Saris Cycle on Pro is decent. That's what I have.

The Thule ones that touch the frame are wack, avoid.
