I've never seen the need for power mirrors, I mean you never adjust your mirrors, it's not like one day you wake up and your a foot taller so you need to adjust them.

Yea I know, maybe someone else drives your XJ, but most couples have 2 vehicles, are power mirrors really necessary or just another gadget they use as a selling point?

Salesman: Power mirrors ma'am? Only another $400.

Customer: Well........I never use them, but the people next door and across the street have them.......so I have to have em too!

I hate power anything. I can get enough door panels from the junkyard to do a manual conversion and parts for my XJ, and I'm seriously considering it.

Anywho, I like my '98. OP, I didn't think 99's had the 0331 head? That's the bad one...

I think late model 99's had 0331. If you go mudding than power anything is just another thing to go wrong. Does the fulltime transfer case do alright off road (I know obviously not as good as other one) but is it really that bad?

I use my power mirrors a lot on the trail. I adjust them so I can check my wheel placement in tight sections and make sure I don't back into rocks or stumps.

HAHA Im the opposite, I fold mine in and wing it, or look out the window if it's not too muddy

I did a double take the first time I saw an SUV with a power lift hatch, for the love of God how lazy do you have to be to where you can't lift a hatch that's assisted with gas shocks?

I could understand if you're 80, but you'd have a Buick LeSabre by then anyway.

The day I can't lift the hatch on an SUV is the day I buy a car.

OK, I can see that, but Cadillacs have power mirrors too, haven't seen too many of those at my local mud hole.

....and don't get me started on power seats, I've been 6 foot the past several years so don't really need to adjust my seats.

Any year prior to 2014 LOL. My wife said that I should post this on her behalf.

I haven't used the full-time 4x4 all that much off road, but it's great for light woods trails and snowy roads, for sure. I'm going to miss that when I swap in my 231. If I was only able to get a non-hack-n-tap SYE for it, I'd probably keep it around...

it's not like I ordered it like that. it was a state purchased vehicle. it's about as base as it gets so I dunno.

My 96 Sport was pretty much stock, all manual. I kind if miss how basic it was. My new XJ is a 97 Country. It's loaded with power everything....like a Cadillac. One thing I don't miss is manually rolling up and down the windows every time I park or go in at night.
