I am a fan of royal purple. I was sponsored by them for my high schools engine building team last year and they make a great product if you ask me. My first oil change ever in my jeep was royal purple. Only problem...it's EXPENSIVE!!!!!....haha about 10 dollars a quart depending on where you shop. Needless to say, I'm not running royal purple no more. But it is a nice product. Plus it's purple. No lie lol

First off...there are TONS of threads about oil on here. But alas, might as well answer

I would actually say Rotella 10w-30!!!

Has a high level of Zinc, and a great cleaning oil. Also good price.
Unfortunately they don't have as much zinc as it used to. But it still has a better amount than the common oils

At 193k, I'd just stick to regular old dino juice.

If the vehicle has has regular base oil its entire life then do not switch to synthetic now. Especially at that high of a mileage.

There is nothing wrong with going to a synthetic from conventional at anytime. Milage has no bearing on the issue either.
That is a HUGE missconception. Sorry. No disrepect intended. Whats important is driving stlye vs intervals of oil change.

With that said i run Royal Purple in the front/rear diffs, the tc and now the motor. Just started with the motor about 200 miles ago. I ran valvaline high milage. the RP is only about buck difference where i am.

My top 3 favs in the synthetic world are.
RP
Mobile 1
Valvaline high milage

Oh boy, Royal purple is bad, i switched to RP FROM mobile 1. Started ticking on start up and never went away.

I have alot of experience with sythetics in many types of engine (v8/v6/i6/i4/h4) most of them boosted. in my opinion here is what i like

1- AMSOIL-BEST MONEY COULD BUY
2-Mobile1

Most others are not half as good as Amsoil
