I'm partial to the supercharger. Only real way to add significant HP and TQ easily.

Yeah "WHY" I've never heard a real reason yet for it.

Not Faster, but more powerful.

Load your XJ up with bumpers, winches, skid plates, sliders, armor, roof rack, spare parts and you easily add 1000+ pounds. Compound that with bigger, heavier wheels and tires.

You need more power just to get back to stock performance, that's all, not faster.

Brakes should be first, performance doesn't matter if you can't stop it.

Good tune-up, basic plugs with high quality wires, and a high-flow cat, will give you pretty good seat-of-the-pants improvement and better fuel efficiency.

Quote: Uh.... He said he's saving up to buy a 350. Those kits are like $1000 more than a 350 cost.

Quote: What's this infatuation with making XJs fast??? It's a Jeep. Unless it has a Grand Cherokee badge accompanied by a SRT8 badge it's not going to be fast.
My Up Country ZJ whips *** on A4s and A6s all the time. Probably other cars too, but audi drivers are the big ********* around here and I NEVER lined up against one at a red light that didn't floor it off the line.. Which makes them even lamer since They've already got at least a 1 second head start. Even funnier when it's raining and their quattro gets stomped.

Also showed up some old guy in a X5. So I thought. Apparently THE SPEED LIMIT was too slow for him. (granted, that road EVERYONE speeds). So he gets out from behind me, then guns it and cuts me off pulling in front. So I did the same to him. I thought I had actually achieved something until I looked at the curb weight of those things...

I expected better since I've driven a X3 several times and it is pretty quick if you gun it. And obviously the old guy wasn't driving a M series X5.

Last year at the race track on a Wed night after most all racing was over I lined up my GC "Overland" 4.7HO against a new GC with the SRT8 got a hole shot and beat him by 2 1/2 car lengths in the 1/4. He was a younger kid going to take advantage of the old man, not the first time I had raced one of them but the first at the track.
