Default Best oil filter?

Others I'd do an oil change this week before the snow hits, can anyone recommend a good oil filter? I have a k&n now but just wanted to know if there was one I could use that would be better.
Thanks

I would stay away from Fram.

I've been using Purolator, and Mobil1 with great success for years now.

Fram is a no no. Caused some minor permanent damage to my. Buddies Wrangler. Found out later it was the old filer. I haven't personally meet somebody who likes Fram. I use K&N, it's one of the best.

I've used Fram for the past four years without a problem. Lately I've been using Wix, I usually just let the guy on the other side of counter decide. I'm going to pull it off in two-three months or less anyway.....
I probably should care more, but if K&N is twice the price? Screw it, not throwing away twice the money if I have to. Maybe when my Jeep magically turns into a race car, I'll start using the K&N.

I thought I had an engine problem with all the noise it was making. The problem was the FRAM oil filter..stay away.
I don't know about K&N.. I use purolator.

I don't understand why alot of people only associate K&N with race cars and etc. they make dozens of filter variations for other vehicles and are sold to the public, I run Royal Purple in my rig too, which also people only associate RP with racing and high performance cars, and again its sold to the public in stores across the country as well as K&N. I like treating my girl to the good stuff rather then throwing junk at her every 3k miles instead of 6k. Or maybe its just me

I'm not putting JUNK in. Just not the highest grade possible. I DO take care of my vehicles, as much as I can afford to, and am not a tightwad with my wallet. For ME, RP and K&N are high grade stuff, which I'm sure you'd agree. But my XJ is on daily duty, and always will be. A toy for me is a fun, go fast car, and that's what will get the good stuff.

You and I can both get 300k miles using our respective oils/filters. Don't get me wrong, I'm not buying the cheapest stuff possible. I still need to rely on my XJ so I'm still going to take care of it. And I'm not so narrow minded that I assume it's only for race cars, I know it's available for my XJ, I know it's out there for almost every car in the book. Doesn't mean I need it. Wix and Valvoline are just fine too, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
