If you take a vehicle to a body shop all they will do is sand off the clear coat rough up the paint clean it with degreaser then prime and paint accordingly.
Maaco and terrible body shops, sure. You didn't even remove the molding or badging. Two hours and a few cans of cheap spray can bedliner aren't even close to body shop quality. The only time you're light sanding just the clear coat is if the paints still like new.

Not trying to crap all over your Jeep, been there and done it with cheap rattlecan bedliner and half assed prep. You'll regret it when it fades and starts peeling and turns into a major hassle removing it to do it right.

Keep us posted with how it holds up. I'm strongly considering bedlining my entire XJ when the weather is more appropriate. I like the smooth bedliner a lot.

That actuallllly looks pretty good. Iv yet to see a full body bedliner job done that looks good but you did pretty well. Just my 2c though, probably shoulda removed molding. Also definitely hit the shop and grab at least 5 more cans to spray over it. I like that you used Rustoleum, I used it on my old jeep with about 10 mins of hand sanding and it held up over a year so these guys sayin it won't last with 2 hours of electric sanding don't know wtf they are talking about. Props to ya and goodluck

Here's a tip. You can spray paint right over the bedliner. Mine faded to grey and looked like **** within a few months, 14 cans of spray paint later it looks much better, and is actually easier to clean now.
