Battery yellow light comes on dash
I Have a Problem Hope Members Can Help! Please! 19/6/2014@9.44pmEST Australia ...
JEEP Cherokee "Sport" XJ Auto 1998 , Computer, 4 Door , Remote Key Entry & to Start....
On the L/Top of Dash a Battery Symbol NEXT to it TURNS YELLOW
The Positive Negative Leads are a Bit Frayed/Tatty at the TOP
Can this be the Problem? I was Told Ages Ago to Replace the 2 Leads
The YELLOW ICON Looks like a Battery & YELLOW Colour
I Turn Vehicle OFF! Once Light Comes ON..
My Concern is that an Auto Electrician may Try to Say its the Alternator...
Vehicle is NOT Driven Daily But! Starts Immediately
HELP MUCH APPRECIATED

I would try and replace the leads first and see how it goes. If the light still comes on it means theres a fault in the charging system. Usuallycwhen the light comes on it means tye alternator isnt pushing enough to charge the system. But them frayed eires can cause issues.

Dirty loose and frayed cables will cause charging issues and the idiot light. The bad cables are most likely your problem.. BUT, those same bad cables could have caused damage to the battery also. REPLACE, do not fix, the cables. Take the battery to a shop and have it tested. If after addressing the cables and the battery you still have the light then have the alternator tested.

Sat 21/6/14@6.56pmEST Australia. The Problem was the Symbol that Looks like a Yellow Castle at the Top Left of Panel on Dash! is for Water Reserve to be Filled.... I thought Battery. So! Now We know that Symbol Yellow Shaped like a Castle! is to Filll the Windscreen Wiper Bottle! it did take approx Half a Bucket of Water to Fill. I went for a Drive & the Light!
