Default Ball joint press adapter measurements

Hello all. I am in need of new ball joints on my 90, the axle is out of a 98. In researching I found there is a pressing adapter specifically for the Jeeps that isn't included in the rental tool at Advanced. It isn't in the budget to buy the tool, but it looks simple enough to make. Anyone have one they wouldn't mind taking measurements of? Looking for the inside and outside diameter of the tube, length of tube, and angle tube is cut at.

Thanks all.

Go back to Advance and tell them you need the bigger set. That's what I had to do.

Okay so a few things... I ran into this issue myself and EVERY youtube video or post I could find said to just use a piece of barstock as a shim. I tried and it was pain, it kept going in at an angle. So I opted for the $80 piece. the piece is kinda complicated, I think it'll be hard to make so I'll do my best with measurements....

Overall Outside Diameter: 2.129"
Inside Diameter: 1.813"
Inside hole Diameter: 0.890"
Lowest point: 0.717"
Highest point: 0.844"
Also on the botom there is a small "lip" that fits into the press its right around 0.100" high.

I'm not good with fabricating so to me I don't know if this part seems easy to make or not. I know you mentioned its not in your budget to make one, but what about renting it from me? I paid $80 for the set (installer and remover) I can drop it off in the mail to you today if you want $40+shipping (if you only need the installer piece - the piece that I gave measurements for shipping would be $6 for usps priority) but you probably wouldn't get the piece till monday. Once you mail the item back to me (you'll have to pay for shipping) I'll refund your $40.

So, the larger set has the adapter piece? That works. Thanks.

Jaker,

That is a generous offer. I appreciate it. Hopefully Advanced has the correct piece as wizardpc says. If not, I am confident I can make the piece. I work in a Fab shop. But your measurements are throwing me a bit. Do you mind taking a couple pictures of the piece for me? I haven't seen the piece before, I was under the assumption it was just a piece of pipe cut at an angle.

I bought a harbor freight set that also said it had the adapater. It was the correct size but it did NOT have the tapered effect like the OTC one does.

Here are a bunch of pics, hope it helps! Also, lowest point is .713" NOT .717" Offer still stands if you end up wanting to use it, just send me a pm. If you want/need any other pics or measurements let me know.

Was a slug yesterday. When I got off work it was cold out and I didn't feel like dealing with it. Will head out to the garage this morning and start tear down. Advance Auto has 3 ball joint service kits, none of which have a tapered cup. I found a chunk of pipe close to the dimensions and plan to cut it at that angle. Hopefully it works out decent. If not, I'll hit you up. Thanks again.

Well..... I am apparently blind. The Advanced ball joint press kit does have the tapered adapter in it. Worked like a champ. Both sides went smooth enough. Maybe 2 hours total from time I pulled Jeep in garage to time I drove it out. Clicking noise is gone and front end feels much tighter. Thanks for the help Jaker.

Anyone know what the depth from the top of it (highest point) to the bottom of the inside pocket is? That's the only missing dimension. It is also a 3.5° taper for anyone that wants to make one.
