I'm going to the jy Friday to get some spring pack. There several s-10 and Dakotas to pull from. Which one is better and which one requires less mods. I'll be using the xj main, main (with eyelets cut off) and the 2nd leaf with the rest of the xj springs (maybe the rest of them). The xj springs are shot to hell and back. This is what the springs look like.

are you trying to just get it back to stock height, or are you trying to gain a little bit of lift?

s 10 springs require less work. i think we had to drill out every dakota leaf center hole, but with the s-10, we only had to drill out the xj main to fit the 3/8 center pin required for the s-10 leafs.

if you're only going to stock, don't use the s-10 main. but you can always try different leafs to get the height you want.

longer leafs flex while the shorter leafs stiffen.

I fix my DD with the budget boost. I didn't want a big lift. So I used newer Xj leafs by cutting the eyes off and putting them under my old main. I also put the v8 grand Cherokee coils in the front. It put me about 1 in above stock. It made a world of difference. I no longer rub the rear tire in the wheel well on hard bumps. As soon as I can get to the computer I will share the writeup I used.

Nice write up. Thanks for the info. I'm going today to get the s-10 springs. That's if they haven't crushed the vehicles yet. The jy is a scrap metal place after a while they crush them. They had all the vehicles moved. I hope they still have the s-10.

Well the jy (pick and pull) has crushed all the freaking trucks to make room for more inventory. This sucks majorly. It's going to take several weeks to get more stuff in.
