Today I changed out the remote wire for a 16 gauge instead of the 18 gauge I had and also replaced the fuse, which was still good, but I'm starting to get desperate so I said why not...and no change. same symptoms. The amp will turn on if 1) the remote wire is connected to the amp AND 2) there is another wire connecting the remote wire and power cable inputs on the amp.

It does seem like power is being "jumped" from the remote wire to the power cable to start the amp. Idk what else to do but take it into Car Toys and pay $100 an hour for someone to find the problem

Which wire is in connected to in headunit.........12v acc red, blue or blue/white amp turn on, or blue or blue/white power antenna, it does make a difference. Do not use power antenna lead, only other two preferably amp turn on lead, but 12v acc red is ok too.
I am using the 12v acc red wire. Ill check the wire for damage. Ill also try nd locate a voltmeter.

It,does but its also connected. It wont turn on if the remote wire itself isn't connected and the wire is connecting to its input

this. plus, you'd be hard pressed to get .01 imdepance, even from a dual 2 ohm sub you can only get 1ohm paralleled

Here's something you can try quite easily. Disconnect the remote wire from the amp. Find aother small piece of wire and use it to jumper power from the main power feeding the amp to the remote input on the amp (bypassing your turn-on wire from the radio all together)- does the amp turn on and function normally? Does it pound? If it works good then the problem is not the main power feed to the amp, its the remote wire you're using. Find a new remote turn-on source.

If using the proceedure mentioned above and the amp doesn't turn on, then the problem has something to do with the main power feed to the amp. Start checking power and ground connections.

Not if the wires were touching/frayed/or the subs were blown.

I determined it was a power issue then crimped the wires, pulled some corrosion off the power cable at the battery and reworked the inline fuse.

Then when it came time to start it up I shorted out the negative cable with the remote wire. Now my stereo wont even turn on. Im not even quite sure what happened. Anyway of resetting or is my head unit toast? I tried the reset button on the head unit and also disconnecting the negative cable for a period of time. I'm feeling like maybe I should give in and pay the.big $$$

yep, most likely you're radio is toast now, or at least you blew a fuse on either the ACC or Battery wire that goes to the radio. There will be fuses in the Jeep's fuse panel for these and there is usually at least on fuse at the radio itself. If all these fuses are good and your radio still doesn't turn on it's probably time for a new head unit.
