My wife had me an early christmas present in my jeep today when i got iff work and it was a new hitch haul that I had just told her I wanted the day before. I want to buy the folding receiver and just keep it on my jeep all the time but would like to see pics of it folded up and how far it sticks off the jeep before I buy one. Thanks in advance!

Just about everything. I have a big toolbox in the back of the jeep that takes up all the space. I wanted it mainly for weekend camping.

It looks big and obnoxious, I'd take it off unless I was hauling something in it.

I have a Hitch & Haul, but it doesn't fold up. It started to rust in just one rainy night I left it on. I dont leave it on or my bike rack when there not in use(3 separate douches at my work...never have there bikes when there are several trails near. Guess it's's like a gym membership...) My Hitch & Haul is very wobbly on both my vehicles. Driving daily with nothing would get annoying.

Default Shim It

There is usually slop where cargo hauler slides into the hitch. I slide-tap in shims like 'cedar shakes' on the sides and then lift on the hauler and slide in a shim on bottom. This keeps it from bouncing around and from rattling.

I've been eying one of these myself. I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster for one of my local Boy Scout Troops and when we take the boys camping, I always need a bit more hauling room as my XJ DOES NOT move without my tool box and other tools (that takes up room inside). It's amazing just how much unneeded crap a boy will bring on a weekend camping trip. I have been working on them for years to get them to only bring just what they need, but it is a loosing battle. I have been looking at them in the stores locally, but the design is fairly simple and I was thinking about building my own, as I already have scrap steel laying around the shop. I do like the folding idea though.

I put mine on last night (without a folding recover) and it fits perfect. Not to close but not too far away and its not any wider than the jeep either.
