I would make and get a mattress cover for them. If you don't your seven month old mattress and box spring will NOT feel the same after being so exposed to the elements for 1120 miles. Especially if it happens to rain hard.

Rain? Haha... aww.. it'll be -20 to -40 for most of my trip. There shall be no rain, I'm afraid.
But I'll definitely be wrapping the crap out of it.

Haha love it!!
U-Haul isn't an option. I don't have a hitch, don't want one right now, and my rear leafs are too shot to even think about adding any extra weight. I bottom out with 2 men in the back. It's bad.

They don't, normally. But I live in a tiny town in northern Canada surrounded by nothing. Prices here can be whatever people want, it's ridiculous.
$1400 just for the truck, nevermind the rental fee for the trailer. And then gas on top of it.

The idea is a little frightening to me, if I can be honest. I'll be doing the drive alone, most if it at night on a fairly deserted and unlit highway through the Rockies. My Jeep has quite a few issues of her own right now that the idea of driving without the bed is just as freaky, lol.
I don't want any handling issues due to the extra weight..my rear leafs might as well be removed completely, they're bent backwards. The roads will be pretty icy.. and I'm not a well seasoned winter driver (despite being Canadian
)
I love my bed, but I love my life and my Jeep more. We'll see what I figure out in the next few days..
