Default anybody else think xj's have alot of unexpected power?

So i raced one of my buddies 5.7l titan that has cai intake, after market exhaust and stage 2 chip, and i dusted him in 2wd? lol, i used to think his truck was pretty fast but psh. if i was in 4hi no telling how much distance i would of had on him... and my jeep is lifted with 31s. im liking this straight six motor.

5.8, just saw one today. 4H wouldn't help you racing, but racing in 4H with a part time transfercase like a NP231 that your Jeep probably has is a great thing to do if you are in the market for a new transfer case.

1. XJs are light that helps a lot
2. titans were 5.6 for the longest time and they are dogs on the bottom end
3. titans have major traction issues so unless he's got a rear sway bar and traction bars you'd walk on him all day long until about 40 45 ish and they they are GONE.
4. the 4.0 is a tq monster for what it is and they will get up and go.
5. 4hi would help even more providing you don't turn. I know a lot of hemi guys run with 4 hi on the track and have better times then running in 2wd.

also with the nissan's you can't just throw an intake exhaust and a chip at it and think your making power. i spent a lot of time building nissan's and planing them out and 90% of the time off the shelf parts (aka K&N CAI) actually lose low end power. i spent a lot of time with the VK56 (titan motor) and VQ40 (frontier motor) so i know how to make power out of them

Unless you're sitting there spinning your tires, then 4hi is not going to help you.

It's also asking for trouble with your transfer case

I love the fact that when I rev the engine, the whole Jeep noticeably rocks side to side, saying, "Come at me, bro."

Dude actually I know a guy who broke his rear drive line. Pulled it off to the side of the road took it off and drove a good 85 miles in 4hi to work, then more on the way home. At a maximum speed of Like 55 or 60mph. Not to say I would do it. But I wouldn't underestimate them.

Yea, driving in 4hi WITHOUT a rear driveshaft won't damage the transfer case. In fact I have done it in the past after snapping a shaft. It doesn't bind with only one driveshaft

But It's not the same thing as driving with both
