You can edit the first post and change it. You'll need to go to the advanced screen to do it, not the quick edit.

Hmmmm........... I just did it on a dead thread of mine. You go to the first post in that thread, click edit, and then because of what you want to do you click go advanced, the thread title will be above the post body, click the title that is there then change away.

 

Just contact a mod. They will do it.

 

The edit feature is only good for three days....

Odd, I changed the title on a thread of mine that's been alive for 7 months.
