Any suggestions for a worn out steering wheel?
My 1997 XJ has cruise and airbag. The foam has pulled free from most of the top center of the steering wheel. Its old and battered. I have looked at ones on ebay but fear they will be the same situation. Are there any suggestions you guys might offer? Going after market and getting rid of the airbag/cruise a pain? I'm fine without them but I also don't want the airbag light on 24/7 (though I guess I could pull the bulb)

I would buy used replacement, but that's just me. I know some states it's illegal to sell a vehicle without an airbag, so keep that in mind if you plan to sell down the road.

There are 100's of good stock steering wheels out there for sale. Best place to look is here or NAXJA and craigslist is where I have bought a lot of things also.

I'd just go to the junk yard and find a nice steering wheel replacement. You can put your own airbag into it to ensure it works. Be sure to disconnect the battery and let it sit for a while before touching it.
