Things are always going to break. I paid way more for mine and only to find out it had a ton of issues. But mine was modded with only 97k. It's been such a expensive PITA that I will probably never sell it. Don't forget 01 had a LP 30. If it's got the color you want then jump on it, they don't come along every day. Be sure you check EVERYTHING!

 

Oh yeah i forgot about the front axle..... man, now you guys have me second guessing messing with this and waiting for a 98-99

 

It's not expensive swap. I am in the process right now. I paid 40 bucks for a housing, replaced every component on the axle, new R&P with 4.56 gears. It's all about what you want. Are you going to wheel it? Everything from the LP with swap over to the HP except R&P. Does it have a 8.25?

Look dude, go look at it. Crawl under the jeep and look at the RMS. Look over the motor, check the pumpkins, drive it and check for drift...better yet take it to a mech. Everything you "want" can be added. Don't turn your nose up because it's an 01.

 

I know, I'm torn, i know this particular jeep wasn't beaten mainly because it was owned by an asian lady....lol so i doubt any off-roading took place. she kept up the maintenance on it as well. but it is going to be my DD and i need it to be in good order and not in the driveway for longer than a day or weekend....lol I know things will go out on it being its an older vehicle but im thinking more like starter/alt. thermostat/water pump etc. for the time being till i get back on my feet a little.

 

It's pretty simple to work on. That RMS will suck though.
