Default Peep Sound

The factory head replaced with Sony XPlode, 4 x52W, I like the front USB port for memory sticks, the Hi Fidelity Jensen speakers built for AMC came out and Pioneer 2way 5 1/4" in, run second set of grills below the speakers in the back door to let additional sound out and bias the fade +2 to the rear. Still needed a little more bass? A friend contributed a box, well that was the last of the freebees. A visit to Future Shop and MTX 400W bridged 2channel, running a Thunder Marine sub, now worry about snow, rain, damp, cold etc, Stinger capacitor, the box is flat normally but can stand up and bungee to the spare for luggage space on occasion. Now looking for that sale on the 4 channel? What will boxing day bring???

I mainly got it because I had a Panasonic 7" flip up in my old XJ and loved all the features, and the wow factor, so I figured this was similar, but a lot cheaper. Overall its good for the price, does not have a IPOD control through the screen like the panasonic had just a normal aux in, and it does not have any advanced controls of freq. or sub controls which I can live without but the worst part is the background is just an option of 10 solid colors... I wish there was a way to program a picture or some kind of design but yet to figure it out..
Anyone have any ideas on how I could get some software loaded onto it or something similar??
Man I would not be able to live without my Head Unit's Ipod control and awesome user interface! I want to figure out a way to put my own pictures as the background on my HU too because it only allows pictures off their website to be downloaded onto it. My guess is you'd have to hack into the firmware using the USB port and you'd need to have some sort of program on a flash drive that would load itself to the head unit.

Well I am sort of in the same boat as you. I want a new head unit and need new speakers. I have an amp but I didnt see a difference in sound quality really at all.

I like the Pioneer speakers, they were always my favourites as a kid, certainly anything was an improvement over the AMC/Jenson originals which were way past done. I did have some bargain speakers in for about a week, waste of money. The Pioneers may not be the best but they are good. Consider the speaker you want, if on a budget start with two.

For cheap speakers, you can get a pair of 5-1/4 Pyle blue wave speakers from parts-express for like 20 bucks, and they sound great, even running off the crappy stock deck.

LOL the accusounds in my '92 XJ Laredo are blown! not to mention one time I took the door panels off and found out that the foam cone surrounds on the speakers were crumbling/deteriorating. I still have them in only because that jeep is my second priority haha

Yeah it has a mini-usb port up front, I just haven't ever done anything like this to try to get software loaded into it..
If you end up doing that to yours or have an idea of how to, give me a PM, I would love to know!
And without the Ipod controls it does suck, but I make 3-4 car playlists on shuffle and put one of those on and am good to go!

I'll make sure to PM you when I get it all figured out. Someone did it to their head unit on an alpine forum so I'm sure it can't be too hard.

as far as amping your door/hatch speakers thats always a good move
i found 6.5 3 way speakers fit in my front doors and would assume the same for the rears
