I have a 98 Cherokee sport. It has 166,000 miles on it I got it at 157,000.
I've changed:
Plugs and wires.
TPS
IAC
Fuel pump
Cleaned throttle body without removing it.
Seafoamed yesterday seemed to work until this morning.

It idles fine when warm but upon first start up it jumps to 3,000rpms and sticks there a minute and back down and up all over the damn place!
When I seafoamed through the throttle body it seemed I had fixed the problem all day. I stopped at in laws for like 5-hours. I started it when engine was cold and it rev up a tiny bit then came back down like its supposed to and was smooth as it's ever been but this morning I started it cold and it's doing it again. Fucccccvcvccc kkkkkkkk I'm thinking I need to seafoam it again seeing I let it sit only 5 mins barely smoked and I know it's nasty and it seemed to help. But I also think it maybe the coolant temperature sensor. The only code I've ever had in my jeep was my TPS and that's why I changed it.

 

Remove the CTS and see what the probe looks like. I had a code 22(CTS issue)on my '96. The probe was black but nothing you could scrape off. I used a 3M pad and polished it. Should be shiny brass. Solved my code issue. Originally I had a low idle problem which cleaning the IAC solved but still had code 22.
