Ok as I plug away at the jeep, there are MUST haves. I.E. tow hooks ( yes I'd rather have D-rings ) This thing has nothing more than the factory holes in the frame for contact points. Now my back bump per is twisted, due to pulling someone out of the snow last week ( love it ) So I need to make something cause funds are not available. I have a bed frame ( angle iron ) that I'm wondering if it would be strong enough for a bracket? I no nothing as to what steel is strong and what is to soft.
Thanks in advance

Bed frame is a strong steel, but is very difficult to get a good weld on, due to the metal used. I would not use it for tow hook mounts. Plus, it is not thick enough angle for a tow hook.
Find a short piece of 1/4" angle. Will work for this.

Yes that's the simple answer, but I'm going to put on Tomken bumpers within the year, so.... Just looking for a temporary fix for the winter. Used ones are always available on CL but there always on the front range. So even if a find a great deal on one, I'll need to add tank of gas ( he!! No )
Might just buy a tow chain with the factory frame holes attachment at one end and J hook on the other end and make it work.
I'm being a real cheap on such a IMMPORTANT piece of my fun. Just can't justify spending the loot twice in a year for a place to hook up a tow trap

Using the frame holes as a tow point is asking the damage your frame and hurt someone. Do it right the first time or not at all. Recovery points are not a place where you want to "make something work". Just find a hitch and when you get your bumpers sell it again

And yeah either I swallow the pill for a hitch or painfully wait

You're getting trying and talking mixed up lol trying shows pics and layouts and such, right now you're just talking about it. Not being a ***** just being honest. I'd be flamed/jabbed if I started a thread talking about building a bumper here as well. Cherokee chat is best if you wanted to know if the angle iron would work.
