Default Ammo Can center console??

Anyone ever made a center console out of a .30 cal ammo can before? I just got this idea last weekend. My '94 XJ with a 5 speed manual tranny has no center console and I'd really like to have one. Then it just hit me, why don't I bolt a .30 cal ammo can there. probably have to modify it a bit but it seems like it would work.

Looking for anyone who has done this or something similar to tell me the best way to do it. And if you have pictures, that would be killer.
