Default Advice on MY xj Build

I got my jeep for about 800 bucks. Spent too much money getting that thing in good running condition. It ran when i bought it but shortly after it started having little issues here and there. Reason being because it sat for 3 years. It runs well now, i'd like some engine upgrades. I'm also planning on doing the budget lift recommended from "Another Freakin' Jeep Cherokee Website". And i'd like some opinions on that lift. If you've never seen it and would like to just Google it, you'll find it. And because i'm not wealthy in any way shape or form, if you guys have budgeted solutions or ideas i'd love to hear them. Mind you, i'm only 17, but i do ALL of my own work and customizations.

thanks. I've seen the lift, on rusty's it's cheaper. But it's not a bad lift. I'd like to do the one from www.lunghd.com because it seems stronger. And while i took this axle and leaf springs (add-ons for spring pack) i already have the back lift ready. Once i have the money i'll start buying stuff for the front. =) but i have to get to that point. Also, tires aren't cheap, i'm going to get all the parts, then put it all on at once.

cheaper will leave you with more problems down the road pro. Rough Country has good stuff, but hold off until you can afford a full leaf pack. as far as engine upgrades, I've picked up quite a bit of power on my 97 with the neon injector upgrade, a 99 intake manifold, and an APN header. Your 88 would require a fuel pressure regulator, and a change in the way the power steering pump mounts to use those same mods though.

yeah, i heard about those injector upgrades, i also heard 19lb fuel injectors off of a mustang 5.0l work great too. What would i look for, for the neon injectors? what kind? what year? i basically have the back lift ready, just need some lift for the front and some shocks and tires and i'll put it on, i'll take before and after pics. it might be a few months, i'm broke.

do a search for junk yard. theres a good thread on here that says all the parts off what vehicles you can use. you can get front shocks and coils out of a u pull for probably 50 bucks if you hustle.

I wasnt actually recommending that lift, Just something cheap (money wise I dont know about the quality) because you said you were not wealthy and you wanted a budgeted solution.

Smart thing would be to save and wait it out till you could afford a better kit.
