Question Advice on buying a Cherokee classic (98)

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and hope to get some experienced advice;
I am looking at a 1998 Cherokee classic with 110k on the clock. Asking price is $3000.00. A/c seems to have a leak as well as having another leak in the rear axle. I LOVE the truck and would like to get it,I just don't know how spendy it would be to fix the A/C.
I would like to pull a light trailor with two Harleys on it-could it handle it? Is this truck worth it?

For that price(even with those issues) that's a steal! At least around here.... XJ's are hard to come by. Buy it. It's worth more then that. I have been on craigslist every week for the past 6 months looking at XJ's and for the people that talk about that being overpriced.... WHY don't you show me were these god damn $2k pristine condtion XJ's are that you all talk about !? Because there is sure as hell NONE near me !

Sounds fair. I don't know where you live, but cherokees in those condition go for about 4-5k around here. If you are not confident in your purchase, check out other listing and compare them.

Price sounds about right.

Don't know where you live, though check the underbelly/body for rust and rot. That would be my only concern. Not A/C, or diff leaks.

I think I will probably jump on it-Do you think it could pull a trailor (Open) with two harleys on it? Enough power? I am thinking with the 2wheel drive less maitenance?

3000 grand is book value with working a/c 2 wheel drive a/c will cost you at least 1000 bucks to repair, if it needs evap coil. as long as youre not climbing mountains it should pull that weight. if youre pulling hills may wanna consider a v8.
might wanna keep looking for 4 wheel drive so you can have some fun with it too
a jeep with 2 wheel drive is just a car

Yeah, but I would get a trans cooler if it doesn't have the tow package. If it has the tow package it has trans cooler and a few other modifications and is rated at 5,000 lbs towing(3,000 withot t/p).... 2wd tend to have straighter frames and are in better condition because they aren't taken off road as often by owners.
