Advice on building my rig
So I just started building. So far have a 3" lift & 31's. Its an 00 cherokee classic. How do I do this as cheap as possable, and what have you all found to be a lifesaver on the trails.

armor, recovery points, axles, lockers, gears, offroad lights, cage, more lift, more gears, more power, more tire.... you get the picture.
you can do a ford 8.8 upgrade. disk brakes, more stopping power and some are factory lsd.

Get recovery points first. both front and rear. Hooks up front and a reciever in the rear. its probably the best combo i think besides getting new bumpers with shackles or a winch
Just my $.02

also, depending on what you wheel, rocks, ruts, trees yada yada will determine what armor you need which would be the next thing i would do.
some people in the swampy areas have to worry about tree roots and stuff in the mud so an engine skid would be a really good thing to have to keep everything from getting up into the engine bay. front diff guard and rocker guards are a MUST no matter what the wheeling conditions tho.
Like here in the rocky AZ desert, diff guards, rocker guards and a tcase skid are very handy.
Gears when you get tires bigger than 31's.
remember they have charts on google everywhere! it you have an auto follow the gear charts to a T, and if you have a manual go one gear set higher. So say you have 33's and it calls for 4.56's. if you have an auto get 4.56's if you have a manual get 4.10's. the gearing in the transmission and the transfer of power is the reason for stepping up with a manual.
It never hurts to have a few lights, bumper, A-pillar, or roof mounted. Being able to see is a great thing!
if you have not gotten then already, adjustable upper and lower control arms. That way your ride will be nicer because you can fine tune it, also when you lift higher you can just adjust them and be good to go.

So far Ive got a 4.5" Lift, 33" tires, F+R recovery points, HD bumpers, skids, and D44 w/disc conversion (soon to be installed), and some lockrites, for both axles, coming before this winter.
The only major missing piece left would be a winch. I prefer hydraulic...some prefer electric.

Thanks for all the comments. I think I will start with recovery points and some skids. I like the disk upgrade with a 9" or a D44. Should I upgrade the front axle if I want to lock it. Im thinking of going up another 1.5"s. I already have 3" would I need a T-case drop. If I went with a CV drive shaft do I need a T-case drop.
