This is a review of the front and rear Adams Driveshafts for the Jeep Cherokee XJ.
I was on the hunt for a front driveshaft after messing mine up on the 2000 playing at the rock pits last winter in some deep snow..
I Came off a ledge hard and hit something I could not see under the snow(big rock). Long story short,, messed up the front drive-s a little. It would vibe big time not matter what I did(besides sending it off out of town for balancing, pay shipping/balance no thank you) I
Even put in new U-joints hoping for the best. Nope still vibes, being lucky is not my strong suit,,lol
So I hit the net, Why the net? you ask. Well I dont have any Pick and pulls here in Juneau AK. Any cars that hit the junk yard are taken away fast within that week.
We don't even have a place for used car parts. There are no roads in or out of Juneau so we have to buy everything from the internet if we want to do it yourself at home and not a dealer or shop do it.
I didn't want a Fleabay driveshaft and was on the hunt for a new front.
Well if you have done any looking into what a new OEM front driveshaft cost. You had that gut punch like me,,,,Almost 600.00 bucks for a new one.
Is it appropriate to say HOLY S***
So I looked at a few popular ones on the web,, we all know them no need to mention them.. shipping to AK was an issue..Highway robbery like always.
I came across Adams Driveshafts sent them an e-mail asking if they ship to AK,, Hell yeah was the reply. The cost for shipping was spot on for what I was willing to pay also. Plus my name is Adam seemed to fit LMAO.
So I thought heck Duma you almost spent 600 bucks on one front D-shaft, for that price you can get two shafts from Adams. So hell that's what I did, I got both front and rear.
Im so glad I did.. so lets get into these Shafts<(lol he said shafts ).
First off they come shipped in a killer tube and packed very well.
Your free T-shirt acts like some of the packing...hehe
First the front shaft..
Look at that long spline cut,,, wow.. And I didn't even have to request or pay more for it, comes that way.
Now lets do some comparing/ measurements.
Adams and OEM at full extend
And this is them collapsed
The front shaft For the front>>>Adams is 2" x.120 Wall Tubing. Here is the OEM spline neck/shaft
Adams spline neck/shaft
The OEM yoke.
Adams Yoke
Here is the main body/tube.
OEM
Now Adams
As you can see the main tubes are the same diameter but the rest of Adams D-shaft is pure beef.
Oh the shafts come with all new bolts,,I think grade 8
Now for the back.. I already had a IRO driveshaft from Iron Rock Off Road when I ordered my hack and tap a few years back.
The IRO shaft was basically a front shaft nothing to special.
Adams shaft next to my old IRO shaft fully extended, Adams had about an inch more to extend. But I forget what I was doing in this pic lol..
For the back >>>Adams is 2 1/2 x .083 Wall D.O.M Tubing
I can't find my measurement pics,, Doh! so here just look at this thing you can tell its a tough one.
close up
This is my IRO next to the front OEM.. hmmmm
Here is a pic of my IRO,OEM,and Adams.
You can see Adams D-Shaft looks like a beast next to them.
One thing that bugs me was the brown paper stuck to the paint, paint still
wet Talk about fast shipping .
So thats about it,, I would highly recommend a Adams driveshaft if you want pure beef and a great costumer experience with fast shipping to almost anywhere..
When you order your new Shaft(giggle) don't forget that you can choose to have greasable or non that's all up to you.. I went greasable up front and non for the back..
Also don't forget to look on how to measure for your new shaft.
This is very important.
Must have an Sye Kit Installed for the Rear Driveshaft to work
Hope this helps someone out there trying to make a choice..
Tell them Duma sent ya..
Oh side note.. They come with Spicer 1310 u-joints. Lifetime Warranty on the Welds and Tubing if you break do to torq. No warranty if components break due to bad angles.

Nice! I've been eyeballing the Adams shafts for a while. After seeing a good comparison, think I might be getting me a set of them around Christmas bonus time! Keep us posted on how they hold up.

Will do.. This was first impressions I will keep the thread updated on how they do and if any problems pop up.
But as for now they are smooth and no vibes,, took the jeep to 80 smooth as butter.
Super interested in this. I pulled a Dana 44 from the u-pull but didn't grab the driveshaft, not sure it was there in the first place. Anyway none of the local shops have responded to my calls or emails about making a new one so I guess **** em'.
Thanks for the posting look forward to getting more insight.
Cool thread! I have an AA SYE and Adams rear drive shaft waiting to be installed in my garage. They have a pretty extensive database of lift heights and measurements and sent me the correct length DS just from telling them my lift height and axle types. Very fast shipping, would highly recommend.
Ive been happy with them, Im so glad I went this route.. Nothing to report on them since I made this thread (Drive shafts just spin lol).. Ive had no binding issues at all and zero vibes.. I'm no hardcore wheeler but I do get myself into situations that twist my suspension around (snow berms are fun)
Plus they look so Bad A## when you look down under the Jeep.. I know, I know they are just D-shafts but hell they look slick..even with scratches haha!
