The TECH forum is as busy as ever
BUT This Chat section seems dead.
used to be busy.
Now only a handful of threads all month.

Did a lot of guys move on since 2019?
I've been driving a BMW SUV the last few years.

Forums in general are dying.

Everyone is fakebooking and twattering now.

Compared to a few others I am on, this one gets decent traffic. I check in here pretty much every day but a few others I might not even check once a week because of the lack of posts.

I agree that message boards are slowly dying off. But in my opinion Reddit is taking a lot of users away from traditional message boards. While facething and things like that are more focused on getting attention and bragging without much technical discussion. But that's how younger people prefer most things in life.

But they let you know about it when they don't get an answer in 20 minutes after posting some poorly described problem. Lets make a new thread in three other subforums maybe that will do the trick and get me out of figuring it out myself

But, those have been around for 15 years.
I wonder if XJs are slowing dying off, one car at a time

I am totally addicted to Reddit.
Greatest thing ever.
But for auto DIY, I still go to forums only

I didn't have a Cherokee for several years and after months of looking for a tacoma I ended up with a cherokee...

Hopefully with all of the reddit shenanigans and Facebook being generally awful private forums will make a comeback.

Don't count on it.

People now want instant gratification. The days of research and study are waning. Give me results now, or **** off.

It do be like that, lol

True, I have noticed that more dedicated communities (people that actually meet) are more often on discord. But Zoomers are all about the instant gratification (old man shakes fist at cloud) and tiktok attention span but there are a few solid ones that buck that trend.

all those single post new accounts are killing this place. I'm nearly 100% sure they're bots but what the point is to a single post hit and run is beyond my reasoning.

I spend less and less time here cause of it. Oh look an intresting thread.. oh its 10yrs old and been bumped by a single post user who really should have created a new thread for their question. A few days later single post user has yet to return. smh

It seems that lots of misinformation is more appealing to the younger crowd than small bits of great information.

FWIW, twice a day I go through Introductions and Chat solely to move posts/threads to Technical forums here. 3 to 5 a day.

Internet Brands is supposed to be working on an upgrade like other forums have.
It is a notification that you're reading an old thread and advising users to be aware of that and possibly start their own new thread.

Until then, we Moderators do what we have to do.

Cruiser, Outlaw and myself have been trying to get improvements made to the site for a good long while. Unfortunately it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Things like dark mode seem to take precedent over real improvements and functionality. We can only give suggestions to IB, it's up to them to implement the changes. So far we've seen bupkiss.

Some of you do this already, but others may consider doing it.

Go through Introductions every day and welcome new folks.
Report posts that are in the wrong forums.

I've gotta ask:

How many of you use the "Dark Mode" when viewing Cherokee Forum?

The reality of it is that Forums and Message Boards used to be the ONLY way for enthusiasts to get the info they needed or converse amongst other enthusiasts across the hobby. With the rapid expanse of social media platforms, enthusiasts were given a much broader range of ways to share information or have conversations about their hobby. Here is no different. A few of us Staff branched out and gave the members other options to stay with the changing times. We created our Facebook page, CherokeeForum.com and our Instagram page, @the_real_cherokeeform. We gave someone the option to start a Reddit in our favor, but that never went through. Offer still stands if someone would like to head that project. As for the Forum itself, it will not be going anywhere as it has become our main archive throughout the years. I for one do not plan on going anywhere and will "Go down with my ship" when the time arises. Until then, just enjoy the Forum as you always have.
