So I was trying to diagnose a problem on my 92 4.0 so I pulled the ac relay with the engine not running, cranked it up to see if my theory panned out, it didn't, so I turned it off and put the relay back in. Now the AC doesn't work.
Did I do something wrong?

Anyone? My blower fuse is fine and I just put in a new relay. All I did was remove the first relay with the engine off, cranked it up, turned on the ac to test my theory, obviously it wasn't working, turned off the engine and replaced the relay. Now no ac. It blows air for a minute or so and then gradually blows less and less until nothing comes out. And the air that does come out isn't cold. I recently filled up the freon, so that's not it.
What did I do wrong??

 

It sounds like your blower motor is dying. I'd put it on high, and if it slows or stops as you described, I'd bet a new blower motor is in order. Also, there's a blower motor speed control module you might look at, but usually when the lower speeds burn out, the highest speed still works as it bypasses the resistors in the module.

 

Well the vent setting works and blows fine. It's just when I turn on the ac that it blows until its got nothing left. CEL says open or shorted condition in the ac clutch relay circuit
