Default About to drop 2k on the Cherokee. Talk me out of it?

getting a little board with the xj and sick of not going on trails because i don't have a spare, so i decided it's time to make a few purchases.

for $2116 i'm getting:

(5) pro comp series 52 rock crawler wheels -$329.50
(5) firestone destination at or falken wildpeak at tires (31x10.5x15) with mount & balance -$883
spartan locker dana 30 -$310.54
spartan locker chrysler 8.25 -$388.28
xj pod 8" rear hatch subwoofer enclosure -$87.75
jbl 8" subwoofer -$43.83
boss audio 250watt rms mono amp (well reviewed ) -$60.38
boss audio 8 gauge amp wiring kit -$12.49

the yokohama geolanders i have on there now can go for another 7-10k but i'm feeling anxious. i can afford to make the purchases, still unsure about spending money on things that aren't absolutely necessary right now.

are those prices good? thoughts on the wheels/tires/lockers?

I wouldn't bother with the Destination ATs. I had them on a Ford truck and didn't like them off the pavement. Have you considered going with a mud terrain? I run Mastercraft Courser MTs and I love 'em so much I'm on my second set. They're a Cooper Tire owned company and are the old STT tread pattern, which is very similar in design to BFG MTs. They'll run you a little more than the tires you picked, but ditch the audio stuff to make up the balance. Trust me, you'll be happier with a better tire than a bumping sound system on the trail.

Do you have any armor on your xj yet? Might want to consider ditching the front locker for now and buying a tcase and lca skids at the very minimum. Do you have recovery points yet either? If not, front tow hooks and a rear hitch would be money better spent. Do you have recovery gear? There's a lot to think about if you're going to hit the trail, so spend your money wisely.

So the only thing stopping you from wheeling is a spare? So get a $50 used spare

I am a big fan of spending money on the Cherokee. DO IT. But get different tires. You are locking both ends with lunchboxes so I dont see why you would bother with ATs.

i'm getting armor in my next round of purchases, with bumpers and rock rails following that. the trails around me aren't that rock intensive, and i don't plan on a rubicon or moab trip till next fall. since my brother is going to be borrowing my truck for a while, the xj is going to be my daily driver, so on road manners are important to me. i'm still deciding between the firestones in both at & mt as well as the goodyear duratracs. i've never had luck with goodyear tires though, they always wear out too early.

I know theres a lot of people that use lunchboxes on daily drivers and I will get some soon as well. But putting MT tires on (like wrangler MT kevlars or KM2s) affects the daily drivability less then having lunchboxes in both axles. So if daily drivability is that much of an issue for you I would get some good MT tire and rear locker only for now. But thats just me.

I would take the money you were going to spend on the front locker and all the stereo BS and put it twards a selectable locker for the front. That way you can turn it on and off when you need it.

the cragar soft 8's are like $277 shipped if you want to weigh that as a budget option.
I'd prefer a full case locker for the rear but that all depends on current gearing and future plans.

and mud tires
oh and I'd also buy a complete used spare off craigslist because I'm a cheapo
