Default AAL vs Shackles bb lift

For a 2" bb with about 90% on road and usually no weight in the back (back is more than usually empty) with at most 2 people counting the driver in the jeep. What would you say is my best bet for quality ride and life time height (Sagging, etc..)? Not looking to spend a lot as I am a college student that does some novice trail riding now and then.

Spacers and shackle for 80 dollars. That way you add to it later.

If it were me, I would do spacers and AAL's. The rear leaf springs sag over time no matter if the jeep is loaded or not.

Yea but if he ends up going bigger later, he'll most likely replace the springs, and thus the 2 inch rear lift. If he goes with shackles, he can get a 4.5 inch kit in the future and keep the shackle and spacer to have a 6.5 inch lift.

Plus the AALs will not stop it from sagin

AAL's and the rear will sag, Shackles and the rear will sag. Either way the rear is gonna sag, no avoiding it if you're using your stock leafs.

Now if you've already got a lift and you're building from it... Get the shackles, they'll help with your flex. and an AAL wont help with the ride.. It'll stay they same mostly with the shackles

Then what about a spacer in the front, and a shackle relocation kit + Comanche shackles in the rear? That will allow him to flex well, he will get the same amount of lift, plus he can fine tune his rear suspension .

Thank you all for the response, so it looks like I am confident again in getting the rc 2" lift with shackles. I do not plan at this point to lift it any higher but who knows from what I've read these pesky xj builds can get quite addictive so maybe after a couple more years if it's still running (hope so) but for now I just want to have fun while not breaking the bank

hahaha maybe. We'll see, I really just want to make it look and drive the best it can while keeping most of my money, I plan on doing new shocks, new fog lights, new front suspension bushings, and any misc. related stuff that I come across such as my maglite mount up front next to the gear box panel I've already recently put new speakers and I might throw a sub in there idk

AAL WILL NOT PERMANENTLY FIX SAG. It will for a few months, but then it will sag back down

So for overall strength, durability, flex, look, and life which is better shackles or aal?

Strength, same
Durability, same
Flex, AAL will prolly be better
Look, same
Life, shackle (you can always replace the springs but keep the shackle)

go with the shakles unless you have brand new leafs, its a better investment, the aal will sag eventually and you wont be able to use it again, the shakles are reuseable plus they wont sag as bad
