ive said it before and ill say it again. NEVER buy a vehicle thats been lifted by the previous owner. heres my reasoning:
1. you dont know if they did it right or did a hillbilly hack job
2. if its not lifted, you know its MOST LIKELY never been driven to hell and back off road
3. stock vehicles are generally in better shape overall because since theyre not lifted, parts dont wear out as fast.
personally i would RUN the other way from that one.

eh. maybe 5000 - 6000 in a good market and if it's super clean. it's probably not a bad little jeep and it looks in good condition. 99 is the best year. all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay

throw some gears in those axles and you've got a badass little rig. even if it is bolt on

On that budget you can build something really nice and take pride that you built it the way you wanted it. only buy a built trail rig if it comes cheap.

everyone wants to hate on a guy asking too much for his rig, especially me. but that ones actually nice. if you don't know what you're looking at bring someone who knows what to look for. check joints, bushings, ball joints, ujoints, leafs for wrap, welds on the stiffeners, general engine stuff, tires for plugs, and much more
a good one will be scratches on the axles and dents in the frame. if you don't see any of that, assume it was babied
$6000 is a little high but probably fair. that's a lot to spend on your first 4x4. better learn how to work on it fast or you'll feel overwhelmed by maintenance work

ok have a little more info now...
he is the 2nd owner of the vehicle. he has all of the maintenance records including all oil changes from the 1st owner. the lift was done by 1st owner in 2009 (just before 2nd owner purchased).
he said he's taken it out off road about 20 times. the trails he mentioned are not light trails however i have done them myself in a stock 1990 land rover. that said i guess it all depends on how hard he rode it. the shocks are one month old.
hmmm...

If you are willing to spend that much, then just buy a decent xj and build it yourself so you know what's going in to it and have more pride in it
