Default Is a 98' to old?

I am looking at a 98 Cherokee tomorrow, 115k. I am just worried about parts and what not, over the counter availability. I was looking for a 2000-2001 in hopes more parts would be available.

Thanks guys!

You have no worries about over the counter parts with an XJ, no matter the year. 115k is just being broken in for a 4.0. I wold buy it in a heart beat if the price was right. My last 4.0 had 170k when I bought it and Ive had it 2 years now and it's still great!

I have a 98 with over 200k and haven't had a problem with it yet (got it a year ago). Parts are easy to find for any xj. Xjs are divided into pre'97 and '97+ so a 98 won't be very different from a 2001. I would kill for a 98 with 115k hahah.

Price is at $4100 but I know these KBB for around $3100. Don't know how I will talk him down I don't think he will bite any lower than his current price.

bought my 01 with 220k for $2750....took it down to florida a few days after i got it, put around 1500-2000 miles on it before i even had it home for a week, only things i have done to it was change rad and install new front axle ujoints, both were minor fixes in my opinion.....been proud of my xj since i got it

Parts availability shoudn't be problem, the '98 may be better than '00-01 anyways. You get a high pinion front axle versus low pinion. 115,000 miles is nice and low, I'd focus on the condition, at $4,100 better be pretty good.

I got an 87 and a 95 model.
They built this thing for some many years that parts are everywhere and reasonably cheap.
That price seems high, I would look for a cheaper one, but it might be hard to beat those miles.
First when when you get it:
Change all the oils.
I would replace the thermostat and heater/radiator hoses for piece of mind and then just drive it.
