Default 97 XJ parts sensitive???

My ‘91 May be coming to an end. The Blue Bomb is crusty and rusty. Bought a 4 door ‘97 a year ago and am looking at swapping parts over soon. Ran in to a fella today who said that year is selectively parts specific? Is this year rig more limited to interchanging parts across other years? My ‘91 has parts from nearly every year... 😬 I’ve never heard this. Any insight appreciated!

Mainly transmission electronics. Haven't really come across anything else... yet

Just a few off the top of my head:
-you can ONLY use a 97 TCM with a 97
-97 aw4 is different than 96 down and 98-01. 91-96 can be made to fit with some minor wiring mods. 98+ is a little more complicated

Probably. There are going to be some big differences between a 97 and a 91.
