I haven't gotten into it yet, but I rescued a 97 Grand Cherokee and from what I have been told, one of the door hinge brackets have separated from the welds. I do know someone tried (fearful of seeing the actual damage) to weld them back on, according to the owner.

Anyone ever heard of this?

If the "welding" wasn't too destructive, I am thinking of aligning the mount, then drilling three holes through the bracket and door, then anchoring with carriage bolts and JB weld. Of course that's assuming the bracket isn't mangled.

Just odd for a weld to pull free like that. All the other doors are fine.
