Will it fit? Yes

Is it legal? Depends on your state.

What kind of non answer is this???

The 97 motor is not a direct fit into the 2000 but it can be swapped.

The 97 motor will need to be converted to distributorless to work in the 2000
You will also need an adapter plate for the exhaust manifold because the ports are different sizes.
Custom brackets need to be made to hold the coil packs rail.

Yes. There are differences in exhaust port design that would need to be addressed. Someone makes an adapter.

Dizzy to coilpack or the other way around is not an issue.

Only the exhaust is.
