just got a 96 cherokee it has an air bag. but the steering wheel itself is shot so i want to replace it with something stock and keep the air bag but before i hit the junk yard is there any other years or models of jeeps that a steering wheel will fit my 96 xj?

 

As far as identical parts, at least as far as XJs go I think they only used this wheel in '95 and '96. The design changed in '97. That being said, I know I've seen the same wheel on some 90's Chrysler cars, i know for certain I saw it in a lebaron. Might expand the walk through the junkyard to include the Chrysler passenger cars section.

 

And check the grand cherokees also.

 

Be careful removing that steering wheel, the airbag isn't electronic, it'll still fire sitting on your workbench.

 

oh wow ok good to know. ill have to look up how to remove it safely.

 

i dont mind if its not identical just as long as it works ill check the grands and cars too thanks.
