I have a 91 jeep cherokee 4.0 auto 4.0 HO 4wd the speedometer wont move i looked under the jeep their is no cable nothing on the rear of the instrument cluster im told its speed sensor can anyone give me an idea whats involved with replacing itto get to work? also is there a way to find out what is the actual mileage on my jeep since the speedo/odometer are not working?

 

Well the speedo and odometer are electronic on XJs, so no cable, just some wires in the bundle. The speed sensor has most likely failed, it is on the tail cone of the transfercase. No you can't recover the lost mileage.

 

Once i go to install it is their any specific installation technique involved or should it be a basic bolt on as it looks? Thanks
