I have an 89 Cherokee Laredo. Today when I was driving it started acting like it would not shift into the higher gear when I stepped on the gas. After I let it set for a while it ran ok, but within a couple of miles it started doing it again. The engine races when I step on the gas and I speed up but it doesn't shift. The transmission sounds okay and the fluid is ok. Is there a switch that could be going out? Or, is it the transmission? Will apprecate any help I can get. Thanks, Bob.
