yeah that looks like a vacuum disconnect that has been modified to me... Don't know why somebody who didn't have one would go through the trouble of adding it.

I have no idea either, is there any aftermarket for these axle setups do you know?

probably broke the original and bought that one at the JY

the cable is probably an actuator for the disconnect instead of a locker. 92 wouldn't have the vacuum harness for the disconnect (involves more than just the axle)

Want one of those for my 86. Right now, the fork is moved over and moved the clip so it's together all the time.

Update. So I just replaced all the hoses, temp gauge sensor and flushed the radiator. Took it out to get gas since it was on empty with the light on and noticed a few things. The temp is a little above 210° probably around 220-225° is this normal for these jeeps? Also every time I hit a bump which is every minute since I live on dirt roads, I hear and feel a loud banging sound in the front end. Looked for a while and couldn't find the source. And last but not lease the headlights stay on for a while after I turn off the switch. Have no idea where to look for that one.

My 89 does the same thing with the headlights staying on after a while if you turn them off after you turn the jeep off. they are courtesy lights.

That's a bit hot, Time to start checking your water pump/tstat if you did not replace those with the hoses.

Also check for a bad head gasket. You mentioned in your first post a cracked head, but could they have meant a blown head gasket?

the loud banging is probably the front end bottoming out, my 93 does the same thing. Are you missing the rubber bump stops n the middle of the coils? They tend to rot and fall out. What I did was yank some partially rotted bump stops at the junk yard that were rotten enough to just yank out. Then I just put some gasket maker on it and shoved them up not my bump stop tubes and its good as new. No more loud thump every time I hit a dip or bump in the ground. A big difference! I can't even tell when it bottoms out anymore.

Headlights have a delay timer if you turn them off AFTER the car is turned off. They will go out immediately if you turn them off first.

200-210 is normal. You might have a bad gauge sender, they fail pretty often. You can use an IR gun on the thermostat housing to get the true temperature. If it different from the gauge, repalace the sending unit at the rear of the head.

I know it's not the head gasket cause when I bought the jeep. The previous owner already had the head off cause he thought it was cracked. So new gasketson the top end. I know the antifreeze is flowing so know the water pump is operating. I'll tear into the thermostat and see what the rating on it is.

It doesnt feel like it bottoming out more like some is loose. I'm going through the control arms and hardwear. Looks it might be the control arms..

Ok so I finally got new gauges causes to give me accurate reading. Whoever put on the aftermarket gauge face didnt put the needles on the right position. But l ran into a very wierd issue that just make sense of. The jeep was running and driving great all day until out of nowhere it starts to idle rough then die. I know it needs a new fuel pump since it hums loudly while running. But it started to cut out when it started to run rough the die. So I towed it home started checking everything couldn't find anything. So I decided to start it and it started then died. So I turned the key to see if I can hear the pump, heard it so I primed it 3x then it started and stayed running. So I've been looking for answer and can't find one.
