I am currently running 235 75 15"s on a 4.5 inch Rubicon Express Short Arm Kit.
Went on my first Trail this weekend and had trouble getting over middle of the road rocks. Needed a spotter for almost every hairy spot.
Trail had specified minimum of 35 inch tires.
My buddy had 35's on his Wrangler with a 5.5 inch lift and had no trouble.
I keep hearing that 35's are too big for a cherokee.
I have the Chrysler rear axle.
Need advice.
I want to put on Goodyear MTR's. 35x12.5x15's.
Help????????????????

You would be fine with 35's with that setup. May want to re-gear though. Chrysler 8.25 is a good strong axle.
Hell, a guy right down the street from me from TBAJA has a Dana 35 and has been HARD wheeling his Jeep with 35s for more than 2 years and no issues with him. His team takes some pretty extreme trails out here that I usually stay away from. Not that I would recommend following his footsteps though.
That being said, even a Dana 35 is do-able, but the general opinion around here is that the Dana 35 really isn't intended for that kind of stress, so I couldn't really recommend the Dana 35 with 35s. The guy down the road's philosophy is "when it breaks, then I'll replace it."
Since you have the Chrysler 8.25, go ahead and make the upgrade. You don't really need axle upgrades until you go bigger than 35s.

you'll definitely want gears with 35's. in fact I'd say you need them. the next most important thing you can do after gears are lockers and full circle snap rings for your front axle ujoints. you can definitely run 35's on a cherokee. you just need to do some heavy prepping if you want it to be reliable

pretty noticeable difference from 35's. seems if you ever want to step up 2" taller in tire size you have to rebuild the whole rig. 33's to 35's is big. 35's to 37's is even bigger.. and so forth.Originally Posted by CanXJ
