Thinking about possibly getting this one however I know next to nothing g bout seller and they say the only problem is an oil pressure sending unit. I can do that but just wanted some feedback from everyone see what they thought.

The seller is Bob, married for 10 years, two kids, he's a retail manager, in his spare time he enjoys bowling and working around the house.

Other than the photos and the milage and price not much to go on but it looks very well kept. It just strikes me as curious that a car dealer wouldn't simply change the oil pressure sending unit since it's a small inexpensive part that takes only a couple of minutes to replace.

I agree. Dealers almost always fix the minor repairs to make it drivable.

OP, take a drive over. Pop the hood. Check the basics. Smell the dipsticks for burnt smell and discoloration. Check driveshafts for play. Grab ahold and pull the steering components. Rust check etc

I'd run away. Its got low oil pressure problems, possibly cracked head since its an 01. If its just an oil pressure sensor, you can bet the dealer would just change it himself. Typical shady dealer... If you are still interested, I'd make absolutely sure it just needs an oil pressure sensor, even if it means buying one yourself and installing it before you buy it. Price is too much for the miles anyway.

Pay a trusted mechanic $100 to look it over. Internet opinions mean nothing if you end up with a $6,000 lawn ornament.

ETA PSA:
The most important thing is to buy a vehicle that you can pay cash for. If anyone should be making money on your money it's you. The idea of "building credit" by getting raped at a buy here - pay here place to "build credit" is absurd. A simple credit card (bank rate.com) will work and look for the lowest interest rate you can find if you plan to carry a balance. But, it's far better to live within your means and pay the bill in full and on time at the end of each billing cycle. When you apply for a mortgage consideration is given to two items; payment history and debt to income.

If more people would do this they would have no surprises later on for the most part. For $100 and a good inspection could save you a bunch of money after the sale or give you a bargaining chip for buying.

I agree if this was only a sending unit he would have fixed it being a dealer and never said a word about it.

I prefer buying a used car for cheap and going through it all the way and replace it myself. I've replaced the pressure sending unit on both the previous jeeps I had. I really don't want to buy from a dealership.
