Default 2000 xj automatic shift pattern

2000 xj automatic shift pattern.

So my shifter goes like this. 1-2, 3, od, n, r, p

It actually shifts like this. 1, 2-3, od, n, r, p

Anyone also have this? is this common?

And has anyone made their automatic shift manually. So that it does not kick down?

I tried disconnecting what I thought were kick down cables and it still kicks down.

it actually works mostly like its supposed to. what happens is in 1-2 it really only shifts from 1 to 2 at a high rpm, like 4000 or something like that. you probably don't get that high before bumping the shifter to 3. then it shifts into 2 to catch up and then into 3 like normal. don't think of the 3 as locking it in 3rd gear, it simply means 3rd is the highest gear it will go into. it also allows it to lock up in 3rd where it won't do that in D

Thats where mine is different. When I put it into 1-2 it stays in one and never comes out no matter how far I rev it. I actually like it this way for off roading.
