Default 2000 4.0 Intake Manifold

I saw a 2000 XJ parting out on a popular social networking site and nabbed the intake manifold for my 1997 XJ for $75 shipped. Sweet! Only, this is what arrived. I'm not seeing things, am I? This guy must have had a replacement motor, possibly from a PO. Word to the wise: ask for pics!

Actually, seller is going to pull a JY 99+ and resell this one.
I'll just drop it at UPS and ultimately get what I paid for.
Sometimes things work out.

So, the seller has shipped me a 2001 intake from a wrecker.
I will recieve it tomorrow.
He told me it had a hairline crack and he has TIG welded it.
Thoughts? Is this a doomed idea to try and use it?

I'd be curious why it cracked... i've seen some of those get kinda brittle if they've been run hot alot.

lame for what you paid it oughta be working, sounds shady, you shouldve known it was cracked before you even paid

i personally wouldnt use one that had been welded by someone i didnt know, to go through all that work and have a vacuum leak is a total waste

He told me about the crack in the replacement manifold after shipping it to me. I'm going to look at it with my mech and make a decision about it. It's 10 days since I bought it with Paypal, so I have 20 days to return it and get my money back.

Here are pics of the repaired manifold.
The seller tells me he has repaired lots of aluminum manifolds for racers and he is confident it will run.
He says it's true and flat. My straight edge has the cracked end pulling away about 2mm, but I'm no machinist.
My dad said to have it pressure tested and checked for true before trying anything with it.
Any opinions?
