1998 XJ
Hi there new to the forum!
Bought an 98 XJ and recently replaced the distributer because it was squealing
So bad! I went with aftermarket one by Crown. Jeep fire right up and runs fine but check engine light keeps coming on and throwing camshaft position sensor code? Even tried putting OEM sensor in but still trows code. Beginning to think its the aftermarket distributer itself!
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

The code reader is it yours, or someone else's? You say it's running OK now but still a check engine light and both codes. I'm not for sure but I "think" that it should clear itself of the code but it may not. There are some mechanics on this board that know the Jeeps and I'm can help.
I'm wondering if the computer may need to be reset I know it does when some things are replaced not certain of the 2 you did.

Funny thing is I called Quadratec told them that OEM Cam sensor doesn't line up with holes in distributor. Not even theres looked right and I had a hard time seating the Dizzy cap.
They shipped me out another one and same thing. So I cleaned up the OEM Dizzy put a new OEM cam sensor and no more squealing and no code. Im thinking its true with these Cherokees they don't like reman parts.
Thanks
