Default 1997 cherokee sport axle swap

Hi I have a 1997 Cherokee Sport 4.0L Auto that i just swapped the entire front
axle out...guy i got it from said it was from a 99 but im suspecting now it is from a 2000 because my rotors wont fit on it but it seems a smaller rotor from a 2000
will. Vehicle has a 3 inch skyjacker lift (or so says the person i bought it from) and another issue im having is that now that the front axle is installed...it seems like the front drive shaft is too long...i cant get it hooked up while the vehicle is on the hoist. I was told by a friend that once i set it down i should be able to get the driveshaft in? Anyone have any input here? Is this axle going to work? it
looks exactly the same as my old one and the tag on the diff matches.

2000 was low pinion... should be an obvious difference.

Is it a low pinon or high pinon? The 00 & 01 have low pinon d30s so yeah there different on the rotors

ok...went home with rotors for a 2000...they fit perfectly. Both axles (the one i just put in...and the old one i pulled out) are high pinion. So now i am really confused as to why i needed to use the 2000 MY rotors...and still am concerned as to why i cant get the front driveshaft in.
