Default 1996 Jeep Xj Violent Front Shaking Death Wobble??

So i got a lifted 96 cherokee haven't had this issue since fixing my tow and replacing my leaf springs that were broke, This morning i put on some new 15x8 3.75 backspacing wheels and now driving i get a sever shake and wobble when ever i hit a bump going at least 30. Didn't do it until i put the wheels on they are balanced i have the tow set correctly and my track bar is tight (i have no sway bars. Is this possibly the wheels that are doing this i'm not sure how or is it maybe something else??

When you search this forum, or Google, for symptoms of death wobble for Jeeps, you will find yourself with a myriad of different things that could cause it, ranging from tires, to suspension components, to loose bolts.

If you feel it's not tires, move on to the next item on the list.

I had the same issue after replacing the rims with 3.75 back spacing. The toe had to be set dead nuts at 0 degrees toe in and the caster had to be bumped up to the max spec. I'm in the process of installing my long arm kit and a new track bar, so I don't know what's going to happen once I'm done with the install.

So how is the crank sensor creating the ' death wobble". I have the wobble issue and was thinking the steering box was going bad. Checked all other steering components.

Don't rule out the tires because just one guy said they were balanced right. What kind and size are tires.

That's just part of his signature.

I just came across this exact problem with my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a very small lift on it and larger tires. I took it to a shop in which they eventually replaced both upper control arms, both lower control arms, and a few other things I forget what they called them. None of those "fixes" fixed my Jeep, it still had a violent death wobble hitting random bumps in the road. So after all that I myself replaced the track bar, tie rod, and sway bar link and poof... problem solved! So if you are experiencing the same problems, I would try replacing the track bar, tie rod, and sway bars first. Good luck.
