Default 1993 Jeep Cherokee Price????

Hello all Im new to the forum and am looking to get into some off-roading and mudding action. Since im like most and dont have deep pockets im looking to get into a cheap rig and over time build it up. A couple of my friends have and had jeeps and never had anything bad to say about them. So after doin some searching I found a 93 cherokee sport. It has just under 200k miles on the 4.0 h.o. motor with a 3.5 inch lift, new transfer case (231J)??? and new alternator as well. Was wondering what you guys feel is a fair price for something like this and if its something worth getting into as a starter rig... Thanx guys

Nothing wrong with a '93. Mine's got 196k miles on it and runs strong, but it does use oil and sound a bit like a diesel at idle due to some collapsed lifters.

What kind of condition is it in? Any rust? Rust is the big thing, if it's bad then the value drops considerably.

if it has no rust, or minor, repairable rust, no major dents, decent interior, motor sounds solid, steers straight, doesn't bind when turning, body looks straight and level, no frame or rocker dents, it would be worth about $1500-2000. at least around here. 200k is a lot of miles, but a well taken care of XJ will hit 300k.

Thanx guys... The body seems in good condition... I have yet to see it in person just from pics online and from what i can see there's no/very little rust... also dont know the service history since i haven't spoke with the owner in person yet either... Emailed him and am currently waiting on a reply... I meant to ask earlier but are there any particular problematic areas with these jeeps i should be aware of going into the sale... ive always been a chevy man and i know that the 80's to early 90's trucks and suv's frames have a tendency to crack up front so just wondering about the cherokees
