1990 Cherokee
My friend and I are about to go look at a 1990 Cherokee with 138k on the clock. Any thing that stands right out that we should look for? Also are they known for any major problems?
Thanks

then check to see if the heater works because replacing the heater core is a HUGE PIA
then search how to convert to an open cooling system. I wouldnt want to mess with an 86-91 jeep cherokee ever again personally
lots of threads about what to look for when buying an xj. however they might be hard to find because adv. search excludes the words "what to look for" niceeeee

No stay with the sealed system if its in there still. Just buy an aluminum tank for it from macs radiator $129 but you will never need to buy another one again. The sealed system is better than the open system. Some jeepers are lazy and prefer the open system because its less maintanance then wonder why they still overheat. Just make sure you have 3.5 gallons of coolant mix and you will be fine, unless the water pump or other is no good.
